We’ve been researching sound effects and foley recently and we were asked to find 10 of our personal favourite sound effects and foley. So here’s my list.

Mass Effect 3 – The Reapers – In the game Reapers are these colossal, robot, alien harvesters of all living life. Whenever they appear they release this deafening cry which is very noticeable whenever they appear. It projects their power and the fear they generate.

Sims Franchise – Simlish- One of the most enjoyable things about playing the sims is listening to the sims interacting with each other, their butchered gibberish is always entertaining.

Werewolf in London – Transformation – Maybe a slight cop out as the lecturer showed us this video, however, I’m a big fan of the werewolf genre and werewolf transformation scenes are always a highlight for me, especially here where every twist of flesh and bone makes me cringe, its great.

Jurrasic Park – T-Rex Roar – As a child this terrified me but now I can appreciate how successful it was at driving fear into every child. I was a big fan of dinos aswell.

Ghostbusters – Proton Back Blast – Its just cool, like electrical and eerie a the same time.

The Charge at Feather River – Wilhelm Scream – You just can’t deny, don’t deny. It brings a smile whenever you hear it and you know it, don’t lie. The vid is a compilation of several Wilhelms in various films.

Final Fantasy 14 – Victory Fanfare – The videos a bit long, the sound that applies is right at the beginning, but yeah its such a jovial tune, which just helps reinforce victories.
